Explore the highlights of Tenerife

You certainly will not get bored during your stay on the island. We would like to share some highlights with you that you can find on the beautiful island of Tenerife.

El Teide

The first one on the list of Tenerife’s highlights is El Teide, a volcano that is no less than 3,718 metres high. The mountain is not only the highest point on the island, but also the highest point in the whole of Spain. It does not matter where on the island you are standing; from almost every point you can admire this giant.  

Therefore, a trip here should certainly be on your list. The national park of which El Teide forms part, features paved roads, two visitor centres, restaurants, panoramic viewpoints, hiking trails and two places to spend the night and much more. In short: enough to keep you busy for some time.

Masca

Do you love being active during your holiday and enjoy hiking? Then you cannot miss a trip to the Masca Gorge. It is a challenging, downhill hike that gives you a gorgeous view of the Teno Mountains. This surely makes it worth the effort.

During your hike, you will walk from the mountain village of Masca all the way down through the gorge to sea level. When you arrive, you can take the boat to Los Gigantes. From here, you can catch a bus back to Masca.

Los Gigantes

Another one of Tenerife’s highlights is Los Gigantes. This thanks its name to the impressive rock formations, that will amaze you. De size and beauty are imposing; some cliffs even rise to 800 metres above sea level!

This village on the west coast of Tenerife has a charming marina. From here you can take a trip on a boat, so you can see these giants up close. Alternatively, you can sit down on of the terraces and admire them from a distance.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the capital of the island and is located in the far eastern region. Thanks to its perfect location, the city has one of the most important seaports in the Atlantic Ocean. Visiting Santa Cruz is absolutely worth a visit and will be one of the highlights of your trip to Tenerife.   

Take a stroll through the city and admire the typical architecture you will see in the buildings and houses. Do you not have a lot of time? The hop-on hop-off bus will show you the most beautiful places in the most efficient way possible. Additionally, the capital is also the place to shop until you drop, since it is a true shopping paradise. If you like to party, you are also in the right spot; did you know one of the world’s most spectacular carnivals takes place in Santa Cruz de Tenerife?

 

 

Wine on Tenerife

Do you enjoy a good glass of wine? Then Tenerife is definitely the right place for you. The island offers no less than five wine regions: Tacoronte-Acentejo, Ycoden-Daute-Isora, Valley of La Orotava, Valley of Güímar en Abona. These regions are blessed with rich, volcanic soil, which gives the wine its extraordinary body. Whether it is red, white, or rosé wine, you can taste the individuality of this wonderful island in each of the varieties.

On Tenerife, there are around 100 winemakers, and many of them are excited to open their winery to visitors. See for yourself how the wine is made and get a glance of the vineyards. This is absolutely one of the most spectacular places to enjoy and taste a beautiful glass of wine. Cheers!
